Jakarta / Extreme weather continues in Indonesia area as the Agency for Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics of the Republic of Indonesia (BMKG) forecast more rainfall in various parts of the country and warned of heavy rainfall with thunderstorm, lightning and strong wind in some regions for the next 7 days.

BMKG has issued warnings of heavy rainfall in the coming week in most of Sumatera Island (West Sumatera, Riau Islands, Bengkulu, South Sumatera, Bangka Belitung and Lampung), Java Island (Banten, Jabodetabek, the western and southern part of West Java, the eastern and southern part of Central Java, Yogyakarta and East Java), Bali Island, the western part of NTB, Kalimantan Island (the western and northern part of West Kalimantan, the northern part of Central Kalimantan, the northern part of East Kalimantan, and North Kalimantan), the northern and central part of Maluku, and northern and central part of Papua.

There is some reason for this extreme condition. One of the reasons for this condition is tropical cyclones Tokage. Tropical Cyclone Tokage is forecast to move just west of the Philippines, and then dissipate over the northern part South China Sea. Because of this condition the height of sea waves will increase between 1.25 - 2.5 meter in South China Sea in the northern part of Natuna.

BMKG also advice public to be extra wary about flooding, flash flood, landslides, fallen tree and other weather hazards that will occur because of the excess of rain and strong wind.
